Developing in Australia / shallow-water inspection

Know what's belowbefore you mobilise.

Toran Robotics is developing a repairable, tethered ROV that turns underwater observations into evidence a customer can act on.

Concept visualisationArchitecture validation

Beyond the camera image.

It is the complete inspection: reach the asset, capture useful observations, return reliably, and produce a record the customer accepts.

01

Define the question

Name the asset, suspected issue and the decision the inspection must support.

02

Qualify the site

Confirm depth, visibility, current, access, obstacles and the route for the tether.

03

Capture the evidence

Record the planned views and mark every observation against a recognisable asset location.

04

Deliver the next decision

Provide selected media, coverage gaps, limitations and a clear recommended next action.

Vehicle concept

Built for field repair.

The open frame makes service access visible. Thrusters, camera, lighting, tether and payload interfaces remain discrete systems that can be inspected, replaced and tested without treating the vehicle as a sealed black box.

This image communicates design intent. Final geometry, motor count, materials, ratings and payload architecture remain subject to engineering validation.

What the customer receives

Evidence, not footage.

Toran inspection record / examplePILE B-07

OBS 03 / EAST FACE / 14:32

Question
Is visible damage present before maintenance mobilisation?
Observation
Surface loss visible adjacent to the lower connection point.
Coverage
East and south faces captured. West face obscured by debris.
Next action
Engineering review of marked footage before repair scope is confirmed.
Illustrative workflow only / not a completed Toran inspection

Start with one question.

Toran's first operating envelope will be defined with design partners. The right pilot has a known asset, manageable access, a clear decision owner, and an agreed standard for useful evidence.

Marine infrastructure

Piles, pontoons, seawalls and submerged structural elements.

Aquaculture

Repeatable visual checks around pens, nets and underwater equipment.

Maintenance

Reconnaissance before a diver, engineer or repair team mobilises.

Salvage

Early visual intelligence when access, hazards and condition are uncertain.

Development status / September 2026

Test first. Claim second.

Current work is focused on architecture validation, bench checks, fault behaviour, controlled shallow-water handling and a representative customer mission. Capability will expand only when the evidence supports it.

What needs inspecting?

We are looking for design partners with recurring shallow-water inspection needs who can help define what useful evidence looks like.

Best fit: Australia / sub-50 m / visual inspection / named decision owner
